Powered by an Intel Celeron dual-core processor with 2GB of DDR4 memory, this 2-bay NAS enclosure is designed to efficiently back up your data, share files, and stream 4K media to connected users with a maximum read and write speed of 982 MB/s and 892 MB/s, respectively. You can upgrade the system’s RAM to up to 8GB by installing a SO-DIMM module into the available memory slot. The available PCIe 2.0 x4 slot allows you to further enhance performance with devices such as a 10Gb Ethernet adapter, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 card, a wireless networking adapter, or a QNAP QM2 card for M.2 solid-state cache drives.
The TS-251D-2G connects to your network via Gigabit Ethernet. Three USB 2.0 ports are available for compatible peripherals alongside two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports, which allow you to transfer data at up to 5 Gb/s with compatible devices. The HDMI 2.0 port allows you to connect displays directly to use a multimedia server. Additionally, your data is protected by AES-NI 256-bit hardware-accelerated encryption. The QNAP TS-251D-2G operates using the QTS 4.4.1 Linux-based operating system, which is accessible via web browser using Windows, Mac, and Linux computer systems.

Featuring Intel UHD Graphics, the TS-251D-2G supports dual-channel 4K hardware decoding and real-time transcoding to convert videos into different file formats to be played on various devices. You can also connect a 4K TV or monitor through the HDMI port or install a media streaming application to use the NAS as a media server.
Snapshots
With snapshots, you can fully record the system status and data to protect against accidental deletion or modification. The TS-251D-2G supports up to 64 snapshots per NAS and 32 snapshots per volume or LUN.
QTS Operating System
The app-driven QTS operating system includes multiple features to streamline file backup, management, and more. Features include the QmailAgent email backup manager, Notes Station 3 for collaborative communication, the Smart Filing organizing and archiving app, and Full-Text Search to quickly locate documents, emails, and other files.
